INTRODUCTION

The YouTube video that this article is based on is a step-by-step contoured eye makeup tutorial. Fusing essential techniques from basic to expert level, this tutorial offers a wealth of beauty insights from an experienced makeup artist, perfect for those ready to take their eye makeup game to another dimension.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

1) Primer Application:
The tutorial starts by teaching viewers how to seamlessly blend eye makeup primer for longer-lasting eye makeup. A small amount is applied using a flat brush across the whole lid.

2) Layering Shadows:
Next come the eyeshadows, starting with a neutral shade to set the primer. Immediately after, a medium brown is applied on the crease using a fluffy blending brush, which creates depth.

3) Contouring:
A darker eyeshadow shade is then swept along the crease, and the outer and inner corners of the eye to sculpt and define the eyes.

4) Highlighting:
Highlighting is an integral part of this tutorial, effectively making the eyes pop. A shimmery eyeshadow is patted on the center of the lid for maximum impact.

5) Finishing Touches:
After blending the different shades, a liquid eyeliner is applied to add drama and intensity to the eyes. A few coats of mascara then amplify the lashes’ volume and length.

KEY TIPS AND ADVICE

The tutorial emphasizes blending as an essential aspect of creating the contour effect. This technique not only helps to achieve a smoother transition between eyeshadow shades but also eradicates harsh lines.

Beautiful look! I’m 40, have slightly hooded and very deep set eyes, so I struggle to find smokey looks that don’t make my eyes look super small. I tried this look and somehow looks amazing on me! Love that it can be achieved with affordable products. Thank you for sharing your amazing tips ❤

Great tips..just turned 50 and I need to see how to apply eye makeup with my maturing skin. I also have hooded eyelids. You look great and the colors are so natural. I always say I put on makeup to make it look like I'm not wearing makeup. 😂
