Introduction:
The YouTube video titled “Ultimate Smokey Eye Makeup look” takes viewers through an incredibly detailed, transformational journey of achieving that perfect sultry, smokey eye look. This article will fully encapsulate the essence of this video tutorial and help you to recreate these captivating eyes that are perfect for any evening event or a dramatic daytime look.
Step-by-Step Guide:
1. Prepare Your Eyes: The video kicks off with the artist diligently using an eye primer to make the eyeshadow last longer and to prevent creasing.
2. The Transition Shade: The artist then chooses a warm-toned eyeshadow as a transition shade & applies it above the crease area to give a gradient effect.
3. Dark Shadows: Next, the artist layers a darker matte shadow in the outer corner and inner corner building up the intensity gradually.
4. Blending: The artist continually blends the eyeshadow without adding any additional product to the brush, ensuring there are no harsh lines.
5. Shimmer: The artist then applies a shimmer shadow in the center, creating a perfect halo effect.
6. Eyeliner &Mascara: The tutorial ends with the artist, applying a smudge-proof kajal, liquid eyeliner, and mascara to add that final touch of drama.
Key Tips and Advice:
– Prime your eyes: An eye primer not only enhances the pigment of the eyeshadow but also ensures it remains crease-proof and long-lasting.
– Blend, blend, blend: The trick to a perfect smokey eye is seamless blending. Take your time to soften the lines between the different shades of eyeshadows.
– Gradual Buildup: Building up the shadow color gradually, starting with lighter tones and then working in darker shades keeps mistakes to a minimum.
– Halo Effect: Apply a shimmer or glitter in the center of your lid to achieve the talking ‘Halo effect’ and enlarge your eye shape.
Conclusion:
The video illustrates that the perfect smokey eye isn’t just about dark eyeshadow; it’s about expertly layering and blending different shades to create a gradient effect. It encourages viewers to step out of their comfort zone and try this seemingly complex, but ultimately, manageable look.

Charlotte tilbury too melting and settles into lines on me.
Dark circles suck and my biggest problem right now is a yellow/orangey concealer look on my skin. The shade matches my foundation (which is my perfect color) but for some reason the concealer always oxidizes—or maybe it’s not the right shade?? (The product I use is Two Faced Born This Way concealer and foundation shade Snow)
HI Gemma, thanks for your video's I am finding them very helpful. I am almost 58 and haven't put on makeup for many years, I have little confidence in application over the years. Colour correction is a new thing on me, I recently purchased nyx color correction pallette and contour highlight pallette in light, I have very bad dark circles which was my main concern and eyes are also puffy at times. The correction and peach seems to work best has definitely helped the dark circles but emphasised the puffy especially underneath, any recommendations to solve this as I don't know what product would help, end result is slight bright puffy panda eye below eyes and shiny. Also makeup is seperating/transparent in areas especially the nose and pores are very noticeable makeup dots. I would be so grateful if you could give me advice that would help. Many thanks 🤞🏻🙏🏻🙂
hi gemma, great video and thanks. Personally for me the charlotte tilbury does not sit well under my eyes so have just looked into the peach urban decay but it has been discontinued….. is there something similar ???? thank you
Do you prefer the CT over the Nars?
Love both sides, both ways. Now I can’t decide which products to go with lol. Looks great.
I live in California…and have found that Urban Decay is not selling the peach anymore…so switched over to CT..and I love it!!💗💗💗
Hi love your channel and have started following your tips, id love if you could help me out with a question, I'm very suken in my eye and as I followed your tips I see good improvement in discoloration but I seen to have made my eye circle more noticeable have I went wrong somewhere?
I can't decide between the Becca CC and the Charlotte tilbury CC. 😬 Which one is better for dry skin?
I’ve learned so much from watching your videos💓Who knew I should try yellow color corrector ?!? I have 2 questions, the first is I believe urban decay has discontinued their correctors 😢, any other faves ? Also, can I mix yellow and peach ? I don’t find one works better than the other. Thank you 🤗
Do you put your foundation on before or after color correcting ? Love your videos !!
What would a purple colour corrector be for? I've seen many of them around too. I have such a yellowish/brown undereye with very fair skin, BUT oily lids (not oily skin). I watched your previous video but I feel lost because of my oil lids.
Thank you !
you pull together all the care and make up knowledge!
The Charlotte one seemed alot faster and looks so beautiful ! Why bother with the others when they took so long to put on.
Beautifully done Gemma. Can you use these products on eye lids? I’m in my 70s and my kids are very pink so keen to find something as a base. Love your videos which are good for all ages well done you
I really, really appreciate that you tell us the shades you are using on your videos. I am also fair as you and I found out I can actually use the same shades as you do (most of the times though as I have olive undertone… but fair as a raw fish! lol). ❤️ Thank you!
I think the urban decay works better than Charlotte's.
Hi Gemma! Thank you for taking your time to do these “tips n’ tricks and a bit of education thrown in” videos. I appreciate them. I was wondering if you could do a video on makeup for women in their mid 40’s? I want to look fresh, feel pretty and not have that overdone or caked-on makeup appearance. Also, what about thinning or little-to-no hair eyebrows? I am desperate for tips n’ tricks about that!! Again, THANK YOU!
And lily lola is cruelty free which is a huge bonus for me
Thank you so much for this video! I have never understood why peach correctors don’t work and now I know why! Hello has worked so well. However would you give some other yellow ones a try, like Nyx HD, Urban Decay or Revolution conceal and correct? X
Hi Gemma, watching this one again….Revolution color corrector palette
came in… so I will be trying it soon. Ill let you know how I like it or not
I have no idea what my under eye colour is, but when I apply green colour corrector, or even lilac, it looks perfect and bright. Anyone got a clue why?
I starting using the Charlotte T. corrector and the Revolution conceal & hydrate concealer. I don't know if it's one of these or the combo of both, but I am getting pronounced little creases/wrinkles under my lower lashes with makeup in them. I've tried setting w/ setting powder too, but it doesn't help. Any tips?! Thanks!
thank you Gemma I did it with you and I love it!
I just recieved my CT magic vanish and it is awesome. It covers all my little, and not so little imperfections beautifully. I have just tapped the tiniest bit on where needed and it looks like my skin, but better. Would highly reccomend, thanks' so much.
Hi Gemma. Thanks for this, really helpful. What concealer brush do you reccomend please??
Well, I thought I had nothing more to learn about color correcting and concealers, but this was a great lesson! 👏👏👏
I’ve been using the Bare. Minerals colour corrector & Charlotte Tilbury concealer for the dark circles butI find it settles in to fine lines despite loose powder on top. ☹️
Do you use an under eye primer? My under eye area is dry and when I use concealer all my lines and wrinkles show. Any suggestions?
What was the product your mum loves to brighten her undereye?
I am 64 years old and have been fortunate enough to never have dark under eyes but they are obviously a bit wrinkly, not horribly so though. I never used concealer but feel like it is something I should add since I have been watching you for so long. Do you feel it is really necessary for those who don't need to cover up darkness but want to try to brighten under the eyes? And I wonder if the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Vanish would be the way to go?
Great video! Can I put loose powder over that?
Great Video!!
Truth Treatment Systems 5% Retinol Gel, have you ever heard of this, it's been popping up on my adverts. Thanks Gemma❤
Great video and very helpful as always, your fabulous! 😀
I’m using the Bobbi Brown colour corrector which looks very similar to the CT one. Thanks for another great video Gemma! You explain everything so well, so easy to follow 😊💜🥰xx
Very interesting and very clear. So glad you made this video as concealing undereye pigmentation is something I've always had problems with.
Gemma, could you use the corrected on the upper lid as well?
Wow Gemma, the CT one looks waaaay better than the other colour corrected
Another informative video. Hope next time there’s a make up recommendation for oily – acne prone skin. Looking forward. Thanks! Keep safe!
Loving the videos on color correcting and application! I have started using the less is more for my foundation too and I am loving the results. Thank you for your instructions and info.
I love your content but the name "Pampered Wolf"makes me want vomit.
Rushed over to sephora website and ordered the ud corrector right away. 😉😉
Great video – as always.. Could you please do a video how to cover under eye bags and puffiness? 😋
😘 Sabine
I use the Charlotte Tilbury product and find it excellent and long lasting (I’ve been surprised that it doesn’t feature much if at all on other YouTubers’ videos?). I do however find I need to set it with powder or it cracks. Is this just my 60+ year old eyes? Or am I using too much product? Thanks as always Gemma for a great tutorial.
Thank you! I think even I could manage the Charlotte Tilbury technique. 🙂
I'm going to try that. I look like I'm part raccoon with my dark circles. I've tried everything. I'm hoping this works. Thanks for this video 🤗❤
Thank you so much. Very informative. I've been doing it all wrong!😉
Thank you for your help and your information
Regardless of where you live the steps are superb and very useful
You are an encyclopaedia of information
