Introduction:
“Mastering the Basics: Essential Makeup Tips for Beginners” is a captivating YouTube makeup tutorial by renowned beauty guru, Mia Moreau. This video takes beginners on an enlightening journey into the world of makeup, providing a comprehensive guide to the fundamentals, from choosing the right foundation to achieving the perfect winged eyeliner. It seeks to instill vital makeup skills to boost your confidence and unleash your creativity.
Step-by-Step Guide:
1. Mia kicks off the tutorial by stressing the importance of a fresh, clean face. This forms a blank canvas for your makeup application. She suggests using a gentle facial cleanser and a moisturizer suited to your skin type.
2. The second step delves into the art of finding and applying the perfect foundation. Select a foundation that matches your skin tone, Mia advises. Test the shades on your jawline, not your hand, for the most accurate match. To apply, use a foundation brush or a beauty blender for a smooth, flawless finish.
3. Next up is concealer application. The trick here lies in a ‘V’ shape under your eyes instead of simple dots.
4. On to setting with loose powder now, to avoid a cakey appearance. Mia demonstrates the “baking” method, where she allows her foundation and concealer to set with the powder for five minutes before lightly dusting it off.
5. The tutorial now transitions into eye makeup. Mia starts with a primer for longer-lasting eyeshadow, followed by a neutral base color and a slightly darker shade in the crease for depth and definition.
6. Then comes the infamous winged eyeliner. Practice is key here, Mia notes, as well as knowing your eye shape and adjusting the angle accordingly.
Key Tips and Advice:
The most impactful advice from Mia includes knowing your skin type to choose appropriate products, practicing the blending technique, and being patient with mastering your eyeliner skills. These points echo through the video, reinforcing their value in the beauty realm.
Conclusion:
Through this tutorial, Mia reiterates the significance of understanding makeup’s essentials, noting that a strong foundation (both literal and metaphorical) is pivotal in any beauty routine. She encourages viewers to experiment and have fun, reminding them that practice makes perfect.
Smooth and Engaging Flow:
The makeup tutorial exudes genuineness and positivity, from Mia’s first greeting to her concluding message. The clear, step-by-step guide interspersed with valuable tips and the simple yet effective techniques shared make this an engaging watch and read.
Product and Tool Listing:
1. Facial cleanser and moisturizer.
2. Foundation: Mia recommends Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous Foundation.
3. Concealer: Mia uses the Tarte Shape Tape.
4. Translucent Loose Powder: Laura Mercier’s classic powder featured in the video.
5. Eyeshadow Primer: Mia prefers the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion.
6. Eyeshadow Palette: The neutral hues from Huda Beauty’s Rose Gold Palette were used.
7. Eyeliner: The Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner comes highly recommended.
8. Beauty Blender and various makeup brushes, including a foundation brush and an eyelash curler.
Whether you’re a beginner or adept at makeup, Mia’s tutorial offers valuable insight and encourages every viewer to develop their personal style. Experiment with different techniques, play around with colors, and most importantly – Have fun beautifying!

Show how to apply self tanner perfectly
Dominique, you have been such a wonderful role model & inspiration for me. I love your finesse, grace, and honesty. Thank you for inspiring me to be the very best version of myself.
Love your content. Thk u
Your lashes look like you've put mascara on them which makes them look bad.
I prefer a DEWY look, not SPARKLY
I think you look prettier with other lashes.💕
Thank you! Again, exactly what i was looking for and affordable. Luv your content♡
May I ask, how do you have ZERO baggage/hollowness under your eyes? Help, that is one of my biggest issues!
I really appreciate your tips on products and application and thank you for posting them.
Just watched this dewy one as the matte finish was a bit too matte for me. This time, instead of watching on my laptop screen, I watched on a monitor with a 20" diagonal screen. Your head was still much smaller than life-sized. After you put on the foundation with a sponge, though, you did very little blending and blobs of the foundation remained through to and beyond the end. I will have to watch others videos of yours on this size screen or larger, otherwise I will be seeing looks it is impossible to achieve in real life by following your application techniques. I do not think you were trying to deceive, but please run through this again and maybe fix it?
Dominique could you do a tutorial on Trinny London, i was going to buy but i would rather see some videos first ,thanks Catherine
-Love what you did you look stunning
You are so pretty with your blonde hair
Always pretty…
I had an extreme allergic reaction to suntan lotion. Thinking of doing a self tan. Any suggestions?
Hey everyone, I cannot seem to figure out my color in this loreal Lumi. I am MAC NC15…can someone please have pity on me & if you’re my color what shade are we? 😅😩🥺
Love your choices…I've been wanting a moisturising/dewey foundation. I love the cream eye shadows you've chosen too. I'll be off soon to the pharmacy. Much appreciation 💗
Just love your videos may God bless you from Texas
Question that has probably been asked a thousand times (!) : how in the world does one select the right shades of concealer/foundation/powder at the drugstore? It seems like I have to buy 24 different shades before finding the right one…which beats the point of purchasing affordable makeup 🙂 Would love any tips on that subject, thank you!
I'm looking for a tutorial on everyday go out the door without a full-face regiment, something that makes you look good but subtle.
I just learned about you and fascinated and gleeful that you help us save $. I am a 78-year-old female who still uses makeup but have spent way too much on expensive products. I have to say I have NEVER had anyone guess my age and have always taken care of myself, but I see the crepey brows and other problem areas especially around the mouth. I will definitely go out and purchase these products and pray they work on my older skin. Thank you so much. My niece introduced me to your videos and I love what you do! I am typing out all your products so I can get them. God bless you!
Dominique, I appreciate all the drugstore recommendations. Prices are really going up here in Canada. Skincare that used to cost me $26 is now $40-45! Would LOVE a video on your ideas about where to save and where to splurge so my beauty dollars can go as far as possible.
I wish I could wear shimmer, but, boy, does it accentuate my already large pores.😬 Love the dewy look, though.♥️🇨🇦
Love this video. Could you advise how to reapply sunscreen and foundation if you’re spending the day outdoors? Can sunscreen be applied over foundation?
I wish my face would look like that, but reality is I have wrinkles every where and have no money to face work done I'm 62 and loved the sun, when you put makeup on wrinkles even with primer. Cheap or expensive it falls right in the wrinkles.😥
Helpful and thank you for sharing!
Beautiful look! Great tutorial!! Be blessed, Dominique. 🙏😊
Ran to CVS to purchase some of the products..couldn’t find the ELf contour stick .Did get thePro lipstick but I didn’t care for the stingy feeling from the plumping . That being said, you look great and I can’t wait to try the look. . I’m 70 but I ain’t going down without a fight.😅
Hola! Siempre Buenos consejos.
Do you have any experipence with mineral makeups?

"cookin' chicken on your face" !!!! BEST LINE EVER! hahahahahaha
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’ve been watching your videos for a few years now. I’ve loved most of your looks, except the lash extensions. The lash extensions look like you have smudged eye makeup. They don’t look natural.
This looks too pink to me for a bronze dewy look. Thank you for all of your ideas which are very helpful and I enjoy so many of your ideas.
