Introduction:
The YouTube video under our review today is regarded as an eye-catcher due to its highly insightful yet approachable tutorial on achieving a glamorous evening look. It is a step-by-step makeup tutorial by beauty veteran Laura Lee who revitalizes the classic smokey eye with a compelling twist. As she engages with her audience in her uniquely personable style, Laura deftly takes us through her creative process on creating luxe glamour with ease.
Step-by-step Guide:
1. Laura starts with a clean, moisturized face, stressing the significance of skincare as the foundation of any good makeup application.
2. She then applies a pore minimizing primer to ensure her foundation applies smoothly and lasts longer.
3. Using a damp makeup sponge, she applies a full coverage foundation, blending it down her neck for a seamless color transition.
4. For the eyes, she begins with an eye primer on the lids for long-lasting eye makeup.
5. Laura begins building her signature smokey eye look with a light brown as her transition shade in her crease, gradually incorporating darker, smokier hues towards the outer eyelid.
6. With an eyeliner pencil, she traces her waterline and lower lashes, ingeniously blending it out to create balance and depth on the lower part of the eyes.
7. Back to the face, she applies a concealer under her eyes, before setting it with a translucent powder. Then she gently contours her face for defined cheekbones and a slimmer nose.
8. Laura finishes her look with a rich, berry lipstick to accentuate the lips and adding balance to the overall look between her eyes and lips.
Key Tips and Advice:
One of the main skills emphasized in this tutorial is the gradual blending of eyeshadow. Laura stresses its importance in achieving a seamless transition of colors, making the smokey eye look luxurious and not overdone. She also suggests applying a darker color on the lower lash line for balance, which can often be overlooked. An essential tip from Laura is to “blend until your hand is numb,” underlining the importance of a well-blended foundation and eye makeup.
Conclusion:
With her conversational tone and easy-to-understand instructions, Laura successfully demystifies the process of creating a sublime evening look. She encourages viewers to practice their techniques and aren’t scared to try different colors. The key takeaway is that creating a glamorous look should be a fun process. I know this video is a number of years old – it's excellent by the way; I really love your content and completely agree with all the rave reviews below…but I'm wondering what kind of brush are you using to blend it out (the second brush)? If you could let me know, that would be so helpful. Thanks.

Hello it's Kelly again I am so sorry to keep posting. But thank you thank you thank you for this film posting. I have tried to Contour my face since my twenties when they didn't have Contour powders really around and just said to use Foundation that was two Shades Darker than your skin. I tried it and my face looked dirty. I must tell you you are a wonderful teacher! I finally understand and thank you for giving all of the little tips. Well I do have a large well I call it large face, I can see my cheekbones and now I know where to start and where to end. I'm so happy I happened upon this page. Thank you for all you do. Now I need to learn to highlight. I'm sorry I didn't mean that as oh you need to do something on highlighting. So sorry just feeling happy about the contouring. I think I can figure it out around my jaw which is a little bit Square. It's a little bit of the chuckle that it took another person to get me to see my own bone structure LOL. XO
I've got a question, not sure if it will get answered at all, but when doing Ruth you mentioned the outer corner of her eye as a line. In your video you said its the pupil. Which one?
Have just came across your channel. Absolutely loving these as they are great tips for real women. Thank you.
Love these videos! So helpful and quick, so pleased to have found you Caroline. I have a quick question: for those of us with closer set eyes, shall we still follow the 'pupil rule' when placing contour & blush or not so far in?
Best to you; look forward to new content π
Watching make-up videos, trying to recreate and failing for so long finally I stumbled upon these amazing tutorials from you 'how to do it for your face shape' which is what I was looking for I think. Amazing! Love all your speedy beauty videos. Within few minutes you teach us how to do things that looked so complicated. Thank you Caroline. You are a true teacher. Looking forward for more simple yet great videos from you.

Wow love this thank you so much, my this is genius. Takes all the guess work out.
Hi Caroline, I instantly loved your channel. A great, quality content, practical and helpful. All of the so called "beauty gurus" from YT should watch your vids π Greetings form Poland:)
How many people hv mentioned the pupil trick? This is why Caroline is a professional. How do you feel about creams for contour, Caroline?
hi caroline, i love your speed beauty. Can you also do the nose contouring? That's more difficult and as much confusing as the cheek bone contour. TY.
This was so helpful (as always haha) I love your videos π lots of love from Argentina!
This is hugely helpful.
This series is great. Thank you.
Love your videos x
That is so was to remember, thank you so much. Your make-up always looks really gorgeous…..
I have a longish, more narrow face and my cheekbones are fairly decent/easy to see. I very rarely use contour under them, because they cast their own shadow just fine. If I was to try this, do I have to bring the contour to under the pupils? If I do that then the contour is almost to the corner of my mouth. Can I stop the contour at the outside corner of my eye or the tail of my brow?
Thank you for sharing. Love Love your channel. Xoxo roseingeorgia
