Introduction:
In her recent YouTube video, renowned makeup artist Mariah Leonard presents an enlightening tutorial on achieving the ‘dewy glow’ look. Essentially, this look focuses on enhancing the skin’s natural radiance without overdoing it. The tutorial covers foundation and concealer application, contouring, eye makeup, and the proper use of highlighter to create a luminescent effect. This article will dive deep into the beauty insights shared in the video.

Step-by-Step Guide:

1. Skin prepping: The tutorial begins with Leonard stressing the importance of skin prep. She suggests using a toning mist and Hyaluronic Acid Serum to hydrate and prepare the skin for makeup application.

2. Foundation and Concealer: Going lighter on the foundation, Leonard applies the product using a duo-fibe brush. For concealer, she uses a small fluffy brush to ensure the product is evenly distributed.

3. Contouring: Leonard demonstrates a creative approach to contouring, she selectively applies a cool-toned contour product while avoiding the traditional ‘3’ shaped application.

4. Eye makeup: The eye makeup involves a very light shimmer shadow on the lids and mascara to define the lashes.

5. Highlighter: To achieve the desired ‘dewy glow’, she dabs highlighter on the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and the cupid’s bow.

Key Tips and Advice:

Skin prep is a critical step emphasized by Leonard. Hydrated skin results in smoother foundation application. Also, she advises on choosing a foundation that matches your skin tone and a concealer that is not too light or it will bring out any dark circles. Leonard’s unique approach to contouring promotes a more natural, less dramatic cheekbones enhancement.

Conclusion:

Leonard’s tutorial shifts away from heavy makeup looks, emphasizing natural beauty enhanced by a dewy glow. This look is not only beautiful; it’s also great for maintaining healthier skin. It’s a fantastic example of working with what you’ve got and amplifying your natural features without overdoing it. So, try it out and enjoy embracing your own unique beauty.

Smooth and Engaging Flow:

With detailed descriptions, you can easily follow through with the steps provided above. Learning these tips will enhance your skills and perhaps even your appreciation for a more natural, glowing look.

Product and Tool Listing:

Here is a detailed list of the products used in the video,
– Toning mist: Prepares skin for makeup.
– Hyaluronic Acid Serum: Hydrates skin.
– Foundation and Concealer: Matches skin tone to even out complexion.
– Contour product: A cool-toned product to enhance cheekbones.
– Shimmer shadow and Mascara: For light eye makeup.
Highlighter: Adds a glow to your skin.

In conclusion, Leonard’s tutorial provides a refreshing take on enhancing natural beauty. By understanding and applying these beauty insights, you’ll have everything you need to create stunning, dewy makeup looks at home. Let this inspire you to expand your makeup capabilities and embrace your inherent beauty. Let the glow up begin!

I’m curious as to where we should place our highlighter with each of these looks. Should we always put it above wherever the blush is placed or should we still brush it above our cheekbones?

I always go with the dramatic "runway" method of applying blush because I have like literally no cheekbones (well I'm sure they're somewhere in there, just not protruding at all.) So I need that sculpting effect to not show off just how entirely flat my cheeks are. Although to soften that sharp look I tend to do it in a more rounded, half moon shape and round it off just a little bit on the center of my cheeks. I also like adding blush to my nose bridge, chin and around the base of my nose, just for a more natural look, as I naturally get rosy in those areas. Because I'm not trying to hide my natural color variations, just kinda put them back on after adding foundation.

Finding a blush color is kinda challenging though, because I have very light skin with warm undertones. Even you assumed that fair skinned people have cool undertones. That's the most common, at least for caucasian skin. So it's hard to find light blush in warm tones, because there's probably very little demand for that. I'm always chasing for that perfect, light antique pink shade that seemingly does not exist lol. It's the color of my natural lips, and just works the absolute best as blush for my skintone. Orange and peach is a bit too warm tones for me, just looks like a bad tan. So I use a too dark antique pink blush (likely intended for tan/light brown skin) in very thin layers. It's not perfect but it's workable.

Thank you for saying that yellow tone/golden/olive skin tones are cool tones and not warm tone, warm/medium skin colours CAN be cool tones! so many “mua” (on yt) need to go back (if they even go to one before) and learn their colour chart/theory..

I think you’re the first one that I heard saying that yellow/cool undertones need warm shades! Thank you, so many “mua” saying otherwise it’s alarming..
